Yeah I had that kind of night. I was obviously completely powerless in the wake of a 2-year-old's rage. My daughter went Linda Blair on me at midnight and I responded in a purely infantile manner. We both went to bed crying.

I feel you.

Battles aren't fun, but I kind of cracked a grin at Sami wanting to choose his own pants. I know that parent/child negotiation completely!

Is it possible to wake Sami up before you take your shower? That way he can take all the time he wants to pick out his wardrobe for the day. He gets some independent alone time, you get peace.

Sounds like things came back around to a really positive note for you.

I am so there. SO many times. And I too get frustrated with myself because I know that if I took that time to meditate, snuggle, arise slowly and in sync with the morning, things would be so much better.

Aren't you glad for the evenings to make up for the mornings? And so thankful that their memories don't hold on to the anger?

*sigh*

If only we could be more like them.

Our beautiful children seem to be on very similar wave-lengths. I really admire how honestly you write about your reaction... I have a hard time admitting to my own tantrums in the face of a defiant, screaming child (day in and day out, with neighbors on either side.)
